La Salle Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements and Lagoon Cleaning
Construction of improvements to the City of La Salle’s Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) were financed by the Water Pollution Control Loan Program (WPCLP). The WPCLP program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives a portion of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This project includes the replacement of primary sludge pumps, addition of a grit structure, and sludge removal from the sludge storage lagoon. Once complete, it will improve wastewater treatment capacity and reliability for area residents and businesses in and around La Salle by replacing equipment and maintaining structures reaching the end of its service life.
Wastewater Treatment Plant Aerobic Digester Conversion
Construction of Improvements to the City of La Salle's South Wastewater Treatment Plant was financed by the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (SRF). The SRF program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives a portion of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This project includes the conversion of an existing anaerobic digester to an aerobic digester and associated improvements to the Digester Control Building. Once complete, this project will improve water quality for area residents and businesses in the City of La Salle by maintaining the City's wastewater infrastructure. SRF programs operate in each state to provide communities the resources necessary to build, maintain, and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources: water.
